Monoprint card

This was the last card I was able to mail to my foster aunt but unfortunately she was not able to see it as she died the same day I mailed it but her family got to have it. I used this print, the instruction for the print are here

and made this card, I die cut the top layer with double stitched rectangle die by Kat Scrappiness, the butterfly was a digital image that I have no idea where I got as I printed and color maybe 5-6 years ago and put on my unfinished projects box until recently that figure it was time to use on something and decided this was it. It was colored with Copic Marker and cover with glitter, the antennas are something I got at Impress even longer than when I color the images!!, the message is from watercolor roses set by Strawberry Jude Stamps with VersaFine Clair nocturne

Always close to my heart

When my foster aunt was in the hospital/nursing home I wanted to send her some cards to let her know we were thinking of her. This was one of them. I got the idea part of the rainbow border from Kim at joyful creations, she did hers with Taylored Expressions blending brushes I did mine with blending tools. They are both as bad for my hand but with the blending tool I have one per color so I don't have to worry about cleaning or contaminating my ink pads. I used distress oxide for this picked raspberry, wild honey, tumbled glass and wilted violet. For the flowers I used watercolor roses set by Strawberry Jude Stamps, they're layered flowers but I only used I think the 2nd layer with each size with regular distress ink picked raspberry, wild honey and tumbled glass and added some Nuvo Crystal Drops morning dew on the flowers as if they were water drops. The message is from PPP's set thoughtful greetings with VersaFine Clair nocturne

Feliz Cumpleaños

Today is my mom's 78th birthday, I had another card for her but at the last minute decided to change the card as I had seen a card a while back by Nikki at Scrappin Navy Wife that I liked that I wanted to make and since I did a fancy fold for my dad I decided to make a fancy fold for my mom too. I normally don't make it a competition as it's whatever I'm in the mood at the time specially since I have to think 2-3 months in advance on their cards as it can take from 1 week to 70 days for them to get mail in Mexico City. Don't know if it's the post office itself or their mailman but either way I have to send their mail early enough with the hope it will arrive on time, specially some times of the year anyway.

I used oxide ink with blending tools and the inks were vintage photo and picked raspberry ink, I cut my center with stitched rounded rectangle label, for my window I used matte tulle I got at Joann Fabrics and the sequins were in my embellishment box, I believe but not sure from a paper pumpkin maybe??

on the inside panel I also added some ink with the blending tool and stamped the flowers with vintage photo & picked raspberry opposite to the ink blended ink, the feliz cumpleaños is a die cut

Shoebox Tuesday

For today's project I made this very simple card using Concord & 9th's thankful leaves turnabout. I used Altenew crisp dye ink sunkissed, olive, hazelnut and autumn blaze then for the message that is also from the set I used VersaFine Clair fallen leaves. To make it easier for everyone we used a 6" x 6" piece of cardstock

then we cut to fit our front card

and the left over part we used it on the inside

I made extra cards for my donation box the front was pretty much the same just added a message with the computer

and instead of using the left over piece on the inside I made an extra card, also using my computer to add the message and some Nuvo Crystal Drops gloss ripened pumpkin color

Stampin Up Workshop

Today I attended a workshop with two of the local SU demonstrator. We got to do 4 for cards originally it was supposed to be 2 birthday cards and 2 Christmas. I wasn't in the mood for Christmas since fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving are around the corner. I understand that they run a business and with the new holiday catalog they have to promote the new stuff and they don't have to consider us people that have to actually think about the holidays that are right in front of us or maybe it's just me because I can't think of Christmas other than in July or November if I still need to make more cards that I can't think of working on cards any other time even if my mailing list is big and Christmas is my favorite holiday. I'm one of those people that hate that stores start with Christmas decoration and music before Thanksgiving!! just because they have to sell the Christmas things doesn't mean they have to decorate or play Christmas music before that is just me.

Anyway, here are the cards we made which ended up being two Christmas cards, one fall birthday and one fall thank you. All supplies are SU. This first card was provided by Luci. We sponged crushed curry, real red and rich razzleberry ink on so saffron cardstock -I think LOL forgot already then we cut out of the stampin' cut & emboss friendly silhouettes die then the pond weed, I know there's a name for it but can't remember it, were colored with early espresso stampin write marker, the dragonflies are from friend like you set stamped with early espresso ink and die cut with the matching die above. The pearls were colored with dark rich razzleberry stampin blend

Not sure who provided this card. We  used purple posy ink for the snowflakes out of the frosted foliage set and basic gray for the message, the frame as well as the snowflakes were die cut out of the matching die from the stampin' cut & emboss frosted frames dies, the rhinestones were colored with dark purple posi stampin blend.  I believe the DSP is feels like frost specialty 6" x 6" pack

This card was provided by Dar. We used layering ovals framelits dies and Merry Christmas to all set with cherry cobbler ink, for the flags I used my banner triple punch just because it was easier than using scissors 😊 the DSP was wrapped in plaid 6" x 6" pack

And last but not least again don't know who provided this card. We embossed the layer with subtle dynamic textured impressions embossing folder, the thanks is from well written framelits dies, the leaf was stamp with pear pizzazz from colorful season set and then all leaves were cut with matching dies seasonal layers thinlits, the rectangles were cut from the rectangle stitched framelits dies, the whisper white flax ribbon was supposed to be colored with mint macaron but I skipped that step. I did add the natural twine from a past paper pumpkin as to me it needed something to anchor the leaves. The DSP is from come to gather 12" x 12" pack

Monoprinting card - Letter I

I had to make a card for a mingle aka swap using something with an I and I just couldn't come up with anything other than ice cream but didn't feel like doing anything with that, and then I saw my monoprints on the desk so figure if I had something I could use with them would be great two birds with one stone right?! so the first thing was to try on my flowers drawer and I was lucky as I found the perfect one by PSX. I then I had to pick a print I liked to go with it and this was the winner

I stamped my flowers with VersaFine Clair nocturne ink,  then I mixed together some Nuvo Crystal Drops gloss crushed grape and liquid pearls dimensional pearlescent paint lavender lace and added some drops everywhere, my message is from the set color layering octopus by HA stamped with same black ink

Shoebox Tuesday

I had to make a birthday card and I remember the samples at MFT blog when they released their kit and since I wanted to use their kit since it had been laying on my desk since it came a while ago so it also became my project for today.

For both cards was pretty much the same thing, I stamped the say it in a starburst with VersaFine Clair nocturne then put die cut with double stitched rectangle die by Kat Scrappiness and then laid my layer on my stay-tion by Wendy Vecchi and put the circle stencil on top and with my blending tool I applied distress oxide faded jeans then stamped my messages and finally added some enamel dots stickers from Dollar Tree

for the birthday card the stamp is by Stamp A Mania with VersaFine Clair nocturne

and for the other card that decide they will go for my donation box to Gray Matter Foundation the message is from the same set and also with the same ink as all the stamping

Happy Independence

Today is Mexico's independence day. I ran out of time or just wasn't ready to get creative so just made this simple card using the smoosh ink technique. I first printed my message with the computer on heavy cardstock then I used distress ink mowed lawn on my glass mat added water and applied it with a piece of acetate,  for the red I spray some candied apple stain on my glass mat and added some water and with another piece of acetate applied the ink to my cardstock after it was dry I cut my layer with double stitched rectangle die by Kat Scrappiness and then added the center of a flag in my center

More Monoprinting playing

I decided to play more with my plates this time I used the Monoprint Plate by Grafix as I wasn't sure how this ink were going to do. I used Posh Rainbow Ink Luminous Metallics by Ranger Industries Metallic violet & Metallic pink along with Broadway Brights Dye ink Black. I had them for many years and back them we used them with compressed sponges, anyway figure I could try see how they did with the plate. They did stain a bit the plate as they are sort of permanent ink on plastic. They have a shimmer look to it. I used Neenah exact index 90Lb paper

Because I didn't read the labels didn't pay attention on the colors until I added the drops and water so on the first two I used brayer to spread the inks

from here on I added water more of the other colors and more water. On each paper added more water and maybe one or drop or nothing

brayer on this one also

Will share some cards at a later time

Retirement

A friend finally retired and other than stamping and dogs didn't know what else she was interested in I know at one time she loved cooking but I don't do food cards so I decided to make a relaxing card since she said she was taking some time off before she was starting putting things in her calendar so this is the card I made for her. Very clean and simple I cut one of the cards from Happy Hues starter kit by Concord & 9th with double stitched rectangle die by Kat Scrappiness, on the bottom it was white so I did direct to paper with Fresco chalk-finish dye ink medici marble so it would be more like sand all stamping was done with Lawn Fawndamentals premium ink jet black, the message is from the set relax by Mulberry wood & Crafter’s Companion and the girl is the freebie set by the seaside from the magazine Creative Stamping

Happy Birthday

This was a playing with a new technique for me from and idea out of Creative Stamping Magazine where I got the stamps for this card. The husband of a dear friend is celebrating his birthday today so wanted to making a card and since we just got back from the coast recently this was the perfect card. All the stamps were freebies on the issue 72 of the magazine and were stamped with HA intense black and colored with Copic Markers. I did the smooch ink technique with broken china and weathered wood then I cut my layer with Kat Scrappiness double stitched rectangles while it was drying I colored my images with Copic Markers and fuzzy cut it, I could have stamped masked and then do the smooching but I would still have to fuzzy cut so decided to just fuzzy cut and glue on top and didn't have to worry about how much water I added on my paper

Shoebox Tuesday

For today's project I made a card inspired by a card I saw at Stamp with Susie using the sailing home set by SU. I used two sets and changed my lay out to also incorporate something I saw in one of my recent classes with Altenew.

For the background stamps we used Kaiser Crafts set high tide with a VersaFine Clair nocturne pad that needs reinking but I don't reink pads and since stamping off don't work well with clear stamps this was my way of doing a lighter black as I didn't like my grays for the lighthouse and message we used a newer VersaFine ink pad and you can tell the difference on the color the lighthouse is from sailing home by SU and was die cut with matching set and the message is from Simon Says Stamp set sending happy thoughts, the front layer was die cut smaller with double stitched rectangle dies by Kat Scrappiness and mounted over the washi tape leaving about 1/4" showing.

Wasn't sure if I was going to have enough washi tape so had two options
