Shoebox Tuesday

For today's shoebox project is a card inspired by I card I saw on Pinterest, I think it was by Micheline Jourdain but not sure as when I clicked on the card it didn't go anywhere and the info was by the person that pinned it so hope I'm giving the credit to the right person.

I embossed my butterflies which are from the set fancy butterflies by Sparkle N Sprinkle with VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder then embossed resist with festive berries ink with blending tool used the same ink to add message which is from the same set

Happy Memorial Day

For a lot of people today is the last day of the long weekend, the beginning of summer although technically summer doesn't start for almost another month, since in a lot of places schools is out or almost out, and finally, weather is getting better, it's easy to make it the transition from one season to the other just like they do on Labor Day :0) Anyway they forget the actual reason for the 3 day weekend.

I was checking once on what was the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day because sometimes was confusing to me, not because I didn't know, as Mexican, we were thought the difference between both not always remember everything we learned at school but some people around me always seemed to make it as if it was the same both days and surprisingly even though both days are dedicated to the men and women that served our country they are both different.

Memorial Day is for those men and women killed in the line of duty, in action, that gave their lives WHILE serving and protecting us, while doing the job they signed up for. Veterans Day in the other hand is for ALL men and women who had served in any branch of the armed forces, so even though both days are to honor military people they are both very different :0) We should always be thankful for their service especially to those that still are serving, not to forget their families that also have to sacrifice while their loved ones are serving and for those that lost someone. I personally would add police and fire department on my list of people to be thankful for as they both put their lives on the line for our safety but that's just me :0)

And now, this is the card I made to honor them. I used the recent stamp set released by The Greeting Farm called American Heroes. I stamped the message with Memento dual markers Danube blue and lady bug and the people I stamped with Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Marker. I just wanted to color one of them so picked just one, even though they're all important I was too lazy to color them all :0) without looking I put my finger on one and this one was my lucky one :0) The set has 3 men and 3 women but in general, it's supposed to represent all 5 armed forces Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Army and Coast Guard and 6 messages to go with it. Nice set but would have been better if the people were a little bigger :0)

Cars

This was a fun card to make although no stamping involve :0) I used Spellbinders embossing thing, those that had one texture on one side and you turn it and you get another don't care much for them mostly for two things one I always forget the sandwiches on the Vagabond so I have to use on the manual machine so I don't have a problem and second I have to use with my cutting mats not embossing mats because otherwise, they will ruin them, yes I know you're going to say aren't they the same but to me no...I do not emboss with the mats I cut and actually I only use one ugly cutting mat when I cut the other is nice and clean so it doesn't leave marks on my paper but that's just my OCD clicking in as when I go to the other houses or workshops I have to control myself as all their mats are ugly :0) anyway the cars and everything else were stickers I found at JoAnn's or Michaels sorry can't remember which of the two stores. I don't use a lot of stickers but this card was for someone in particular that like these cars and at that time I didn't have stamps now I do as I found a set, these stickers were cool and 3D

Happy 45th anniversary

Today is our dear friends' 45th wedding anniversary and this is the card I made for them. I had seen this flap card but I had to say Linda B got me going maybe because she used butterflies on her card LOL anyway I did change my card from hers but pretty much is the same concept

I used falling petals textured impressions embossing folder for the top, the ovals were cut with stitched ovals by The Stamps of Life.
The stamps are from a lot of different sets stamped with faded jeans ink:
wishing you a is from Merry stamp & cut by Hero Arts
happy is from Happy stamp & cut by Hero Arts
the butterfly is from Butterfly kisses by BoBunny

the bird is from time for tea a freebie set from Simply Cards & Papercrafts Magazine stamped with tuxedo black ink and colored with Copic Markers
the 45th is from Number of years by SU
anniversary is from Happy anniversary by Clearly Besotted

Shoebox Thursday

For today's shoebox I have another clean and simple card also idea from Stamping with Tracy with the same butterfly basics SU set. This time I changed the colors of what she used because I hadn't done something in orange in a while :0)

I used Altenew inks, for the butterflies I alternated orange cream & firebrick and for the message originally I had stamped the message with paper bag but didn't like it as it looked very orangy like firebrick and wanted more contrast so I stamped on top mocha and I liked it better...they only use mocha. I decided to use only 2 pearls on the butterfly, I had started with 3 but I sort of liked seeing a bit of the tail so I removed the one I had put down and left it up to them how they wanted their butterflies.

50th Anniversary

This is a simple 50th wedding anniversary card but I like it. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for my background which was embossed on sort of gold shimmery paper, I added some peel-off corner stickers and the 50 I cut with a Spellbinders die

Shoebox Tuesday

For today's shoebox project I have a clean and simple card. I saw this card at Stampin with Tracy and of course loved it because it used butterflies and purple. She used elegant eggplant I believe. I pretty much did the same card I just used dusty concord ink and for my message I used stitched oval dies by The Stamps of Life otherwise, everything looks pretty much like hers. The set is butterfly basics

On a piece of vellum I die cut from the so detailed thinlits the tag and attached it to a white piece of cardstock and attached white baker's twine. The label is from the classic label and again I stamped with VersaMark and white embossing powder and used the Spanish version of teeny tiny wishes. The butterfly is done with bitty butterfly punch and pearls basic jewels

Old car

Today is Jacob's 29th, his our little boy and of course not so little anymore :0) his card was a quick and easy male card. Used the same set as his brother's route 66 set by Local King but different image with tuxedo black ink and a little Copic marker under the tires just to anchor the car so is not flying :0) the tire tracks paper was in my stash from an old paper pack I got at Joann's

Shoebox Thursday

For today's shoebox project I made what some call fancy fold although to me is not as you really can't tell there is a special fold but guess that's not the point LOL I believe the first time I saw this was with Dawn O or maybe Julie D but a day or two ago I saw the card Jan B did which finally got me to do the card. I didn't follow her dimensions just because I didn't write them down I know I watched her video but somehow between watching and doing was two different things. She said that she would have to made a special envelope but when I thought about it I always use A6 envelopes so I would have been ok with her card size, anyway at the end I just did a normal A2 size card.

So this is the card

The label was done with rose garden thinlits by SU, the message is hand lettered hello by W Plus 9 stamped in grape jelly ink. The circles were done...scalloped circles by Spellbinders, stitched circles by The Stamps of Life. The big butterfly is from butterfly kisses by Joy Clair also with grape jelly ink and the background butterflies in both the label and circle are from butterfly kisses by BoBunny with lulu lavender ink

Shoebox Tuesday

For today's shoebox project I made a card inspired by Lynn D. I still have a lot of background papers that I would like to use on something useful other than envelopes or things that you can't enjoy the paper so this was a good way to use some. So I picked my paper folded my card base which is the normal size and then I folded on of the corners I glued the doily which is by SU, the butterfly is elegant punch by SU with pearls from my stash I also added one pearl on the corner the folded part is only glued right under the pearl, not the whole piece. Lynn left the whole DSP I decided to cut my background paper where it folded as it made it bulky. The message was stamped with tuxedo back and it's from the set brushed greetings II by Clearly Besotted. I left them pick the message that they wanted that would fit in the opening

Class to go

I got one of LeeAnn G class to go kits. If you have never gotten one of them you buy the stamp set and die (if bundle) and for and extra free she sends you a PDF and supplies to make 5 cards. The one I got was So in love which has the so detailed thinlits dies.

This one also included falling petals textured impressions embossing folder, the ovals were cut with the ovals collections framelits and stitched shapes, the ribbon is very vanilla satin ribbon. The images were stamped with crumb cake and soft suede

Happy Mother's Day

Hope all you stepmoms and mom have a wonderful day. This is the card I made for my adoptive family and a friend. Very simple card but when I saw the card in Lynette's blog I liked it and thought it would be the perfect card to do for them as I can use their colors :0) so I made each card according to the colors they like...as close as possible I think pink, red, blue, turquoise, dusty blue & the other likes a combination of blues and greens so I made it green so hope she likes it. This one is my favorite color :0) both stamps are Stampendous, the butterfly is from the set penpattern butterflies I liked the other butterfly better which was the reason I bought the set but when you buy online you can't tell what you're buying and it was way too big LOL guess will have to look for a nice butterfly about this size at the show next month. I used dusty concord ink for both the butterfly is stamped off and I might have stamped double the message don't remember as I remember I did that in some cards

Princess Dress

My sister was helping a co-worker with her 7-year-old daughter's birthday and asked me to do the party favors and they had to be with Princess theme so this is what I came up. I had the pattern I had made on the Brother Scan N Cut from when I did the Mexican dress so all I had to do was changed it to a fancy dress. I had some tule I got at Impress and then added some pearls for blitz

Thinking of you

I saw this set originally with Jennifer M but then I saw it somewhere else can't remember and they did the shading with pencils and Copic and loved how it looked so of course it was a set that went into my wish list so one of the times I ordered from Altenew it made it on my shopping cart :0) Lacy scrolls. The one thing I didn't think about when I thought of this was after stamping was matching my ink pads with my Copic Markers, probably someone out there already has done it but either I was too lazy to look or didn't find it anyway I did some checking and this is what I ended up. Not sure I'm completely happy or maybe is just MY shading anyway I probably need more practice and for sure know what markers go with my ink pads. I pretty much used every stamp of the set for the background. I used rose bud, sugar plum and bamboo leaves inks. The message is from the set brushed greetings II by Clearly Besotted in tuxedo black ink

Bike

Today is Josh's 36th birthday! man if we don't feel old normally when we think how old the kids are that sure make us feel old LOL He likes bikes and used to have one, not sure if he still does as he was thinking of selling with the baby coming and haven't asked if he did or not, after all is not of our business as is his choice :0) decided this would be a good card for him.

The background was done with Spellbinders M-bossibilities kicking rubber, the image is from route 66 set by Local King stamped with tuxedo black, I die cut it with Stamps of Life rectangle stitched dies

Feliz Dia de las Madres

Today is Mother's day so this is the card I sent my mom. The idea came from Stamping with Susie. I used flourishing phases stamp set and matching die flourish thinlits by SU. I used vintage photo ink and pearls from my stash. The mother's day message is an old SU set Con amor, Mama. I did my banner with banner triple punch

Shoebox Tuesday

Today's shoebox project was inspired by Lynn D. Loved her monochromatic card so decided to change the color first because I didn't have the lace to match my paper so had to use something that would work with my lace so this is what I did

I used butterfly basic SU set with London fog ink, the doily is also from SU, the lace is from The Paper Studio - Hobby Lobby, the butterfly punch is also SU, pearls from my stash colored with Copic Marker. I didn't have watercolor pencils so I used Prismacolor pencil but since this is pigment and opaque after I finished coloring over my image I had to restamp the image...I did it a couple times probably once was enough but my ink pad is a bit old have it for at least 7 years, I know, I hate reinkers which means I should get a new pad pretty soon but since I don't mind stamping more than a few times don't seem to see a problem yet LOL guess the advantage of using the MISTI

Stamp of the Month

Last card of the kit. Bundle special reason stamp set with stylish stems dies by SU. Inks sweet sugar plum, rich razzleberry and old olive. This card pretty much was like the sample but I wasn't paying attention on what ink pad I grabbed and did my frame with rich razzleberry instead of old olive so I inverted the words :0) I think, the big flower was meant to be die cut to show the paper underneath but she had added a piece of paper so we just cut a flower out of it, some leaves are mounted on foam tape others are flat.

If you do these kind of cards as assembly line you can make all the cards in a short time. We used the same colors for all the cards. And of course since she sends the kits it was easy but doing them yourself still the same by picking the colors and using the same for all. In my case I did the stamping and die cutting all at once for flowers and leaves and then put the cards together with my friends. Since I don't read instructions It was just easier doing it this way FOR ME. So I looked at the pictures and see how many leaves of each I needed and how many flowers; this not only makes it quicker but saves on paper. I know a lot of times I say it's just paper but just because I say that, doesn't mean I like to waste it :0)

Stamp of the Month

Another card from the kit. Again we only used special reason stamp set and stylish stems dies by SU. On this card because she did the embossing for us, the paper got a little flatten when we die cut the leaves but being that they were dots it didn't matter much as it just left like light texture. So of course as a tip always do all die cutting before you emboss but it's nice that she does the embossing for us in case we don't have the folder. In this case, I did have the folder so I could have embossed again but I was good with it...probably I would have do a double frame as I think the label needed something but since I do not have that color of paper I couldn't :0)

Stamp of the month

This is the third card we did. We used sweet sugar plum, daffodil delight, old olive and elegant eggplant. The heart is a rhinestone I had in my stash that I colored with Copic Marker. Linda sends everything in the kit (including the embossed papers) except jewels or embellishments like this. Her card had one of those in-color enamel shapes.

This is the kind of card that the base is 4.25" x 5.5" and then next layer is 4" x 10.5"

Friday, May 5, 2017

Stamp of the month

This was the second card on the kit. Again, the SU's bundle was special reason and stylish stems dies. This is what Linda calls creative fold. Because I don't read instructions I just look at picture and from there I figure out how the card I THINK goes

we were supposed to die cut the flowers here so they sweet sugar plum paper would show through just like on the top panel but instead I stamped with rich razzleberry :0) also, the message was supposed to be in the bottom so you could see it, but I liked it better totally inside where you had to open the card to show the message :0) all the ink used was rich razzleberry

Shoebox Thursday by Darlene

For today's shoebox project, Darlene had this cute owl card isn't it adorable?! the punch is SU, wiggly eyes from her stash same as the pearls. The line was done with score board. The message is Art Impressions stamped with tuxedo black

Stamp of the Month

My friends and I bought Linda's stamp of the month to work on our play day on Tuesday. Because our day is short we only have time to do one card a week beside the shoebox project so thought I will show you as we did the cards :0) the kit included one of SU's bundles...stamp set and dies along with the PDF and supplies to make 5 cards.

The set was special reason and the dies are stylish stems. We used sweet sugar plum, rich razzleberry and old olive inks. For this card, we also added old olive baker's twine

Tuesday, May 2, 2017

Shoebox Tuesday

For today's shoebox project I did a card inspired by a card by Kylie. Obviously, since she's a SU demonstrator all her supplies were SU. I used Altenew for my flowers and Clearly Besotted for my message.

What I did to make my card was stamped my message with cottage ivy ink where I wanted it considering that I was going to die cut it, then, I stamped the outline of my flowers with London Fog ink which is majestic bloom set, it's a 4 layer stamp but I only used the outline and I believe the 3rd layer in angel pink ink just to give a little tint of color, then, I die cut my circle which is the stitched circle dies by The Stamps of Life. I mounted all my layers and then I mounted my circle off center so you could see the green layer

Flying by

Happy May Day!

Last cards for my sister for now. For these ones, I used flutter stamp set by BoBunny with Danube blue ink, butterflies and swirls set by Hot of the Press for the message also with Danube blue ink, and the rhinestones were stickers Say it with bling by Want 2 Scrap
