1st day of Christmas

Today is the 1st day of Christmas

These are some of the calendars I made this year. They're kind of a tent, I know there's a name for this fold technique but can't remember :0) I had some calendars left from last year so I decided to add the 2014 one side and the 2015 on the other side until I used them up :0) seems like I always get some left overs as the packages used to be 10 now just 8 but still if I needed 9 I ended up with 7 left over :0)

Calendars are from Impress and the other supplies were little kits by Recollections
.

These 3 below was a double year

This was identical both sides

This last one I don't remember where I got these stickers. they're like postage stamps cover with micro beads, it seemed manly to me and the uncle traveled a lot in the past which I thought fit him perfectly :0)

Christmas

Feliz Navidad & Merry Christmas!

We hosted Christmas dinner and it was fun having everyone here.

This was our table

For my place cards I wrote the names on deck of cards I got at the Dollar Store that sort of matched my snowman dish ware, attached it with ribbon to a candy cane so it could slip into the stocking cutlery holder that way they can just take the name tag with candy cane home.

For their treats which I forgot to hand out :0( I wrapped Tic Tacs with this cute Santa, cut file from Lori Whitlock. I changed her pattern by punching out a circle that could look like his opened mouth as I wanted some of the tic tacs to show the different flavors. I bought the box of Tic Tacs at Sam's Club and they have mixed flavors. I remember when I used to get them for Bret, I could buy the package all one flavor, he likes the white and I like the orange. Any way these treats are orange, grape (purple), fruit adventure (red, green, orange, yellow), wintermint (green) and spearmint (blue)

Since we'll still be in Christmas next time I see them it won't be too weird getting a Santa treat :0)

Been that is Christmas I always want everyone to have a little something to open so I used our Sunday Tip or Technique that was one sheet cookie box. I modified a bit :0) seems like I do that a lot. Anyway since my paper was just one sided made them weaker so decided to have little flap on the sides as it seems to give it more stability to the lid.

These boxes where for the little gifts which were chocolates.

And these boxes I altered the size to match the calendars I made.

Anniversary card

Happy Christmas Eve! Feliz Noche Buena!

I love black and white combo so this is a clean and simple anniversary card. The music paper is from a music book I got at the goodwill, I sponge a bit of tuxedo black ink as it wasn't totally white the heart and words are from SU. The ribbon I believe found it at Joann Fabrics and the pearls were by Memory Box.

Shoebox Thursday

This week was my turn on the shoe-box project I used a 3D card I saw on Pinterest that I liked and since we met a couple days after winter started chose this theme.

A rule of mine is to try not to use snowflakes and winter ONLY scenes for my Christmas cards although I have done it a few times over the years. This is because I normally do make winter cards either for birthdays, anniversaries or mingles. Any way winter starts 12/21 and winter is NOT only Christmas, we have 4 months to suffer of this season and for some people more like 6 months :0)

The front embossing folder is by Sizzix and the stamp is by Wordworth. The snowflake is a punch by EK Success

I used two different embossing folders on the inside, one by Cuttlebug, on the left and the one on the right is by SU. The icicle border punch is by Martha Stewart. I used two punches for the snowflakes they were an old collection by EK Success called Kaleidopunch, Each snowflake consist of 4 punched-outs, two of each and glued back to back sandwiching the fishing thread and added a rhinestone on both centers since they keep rotating it looks like a whole snowflake

Love card

I was trying to make cards that would work for Valentine's Day or wedding anniversaries. Seems like this holiday makes it easy for the second theme in case I don't feel like sending the cards I made for the holiday I can always use them for anniversaries with out having to wait another year to use them, I need a lot anniversary cards through out the year anyway :0)

This was a simple no so much clean card :0) used a background stamp by Local Kings, the heart is a texture impressions embossing folder by Sizzix I believe, cut it out and then added the jewels on each intercepting points

Thank you cards

I have a couple boxes with stickers they're divided by theme also by plain stickers or jewel stickers. After seeing a Christmas card on Pinterest I decided to make something like that for my thank you cards using some of those stickers

I scored my lines on both sides so I knew how far I had to emboss then used a Cuttlebug embossing folder, first one side then the other side making sure I was putting the folder with the emboss on the same side :0) if you want to have the same pattern it won't work one side would be embossed and the other side debossed, I then re-scored the lines as you know when you emboss over an embossed area it gets a little flatten. I then applied the sticker where I wanted and using the Stamp-A-Magic did the message by SU as I wanted it right under glove

Door card

One of this month's mingle themes (aka swap) was Home Sweet Home so decided to kill two birds with one stone as I made the same card for my sister that came for a visit for the holidays. Since the mingle as well as her visit were during Christmas time I decided to use these Christmas wreaths I found at Michaels.

In my home I use some sort of wreaths year round, only one of course since the doors open to one side but for this card since I made it a Gate Fold just didn't look right having the tiny wreath in the middle and since it wouldn't stay close either decided two wreaths would be better than one, I don't think ANY house would hang two wreaths on one door but this is not a normal door and when it's open it looks just fine with both.

After I sent my card for the mingle realized that I forgot to put handles, so I fixed that for my sister's card by using some candies that were a freebie on one of the UK magazines

Shoebox Thursday

This week's shoebox was a Christmas-winter card, if you take the message off it's the perfect winter card and of course with the words IS a Christmas card. All supplies are SU

We had a pick between Basic Gray and Smoky Slate. While helping Candee finishing all the cards she had left we realize there was some joy missing we did find a Noel already cut so it was one less die cut to do, I decided to glue the Noel to the dark color. The whole stamping was done with craft ink and using half white powder & half iridescent ice powder.

I have always said if you are cutting something this intricate is best to make sticker paper and then cut as it's a pain to glue this intricate pieces but seems I'm the only one with this problem as I never see anyone doing it :0)

Male card

The themes for the mingles in different Yahoo groups were I see you, anything with eyes, glasses even binoculars and for the other group was Letter H so I decided to kill two birds with one stone :0) As always, I bought a few sets from My Creative Time back in May but after all this time I still hadn't used any of them :0( so that is what I did. I used two of them...the matching dies only.  The embossing folder is by Cuttlebug.

The gray card became Letter H for hat as I figure it would point out better what I was using :0)

and for the I see you I use this as it didn't really matter other than it had the eyeglasses :0)

I think is a very clean and simple manly card that could be use for birthday or Father's day

Teabag tree

On one of my Yahoo groups for December we had a mingle (aka swap) using either iris folding, teabag folding or stamping, I am not longer part of that group but had my card ready, I try not to sign up for anything unless I already have it ready as when it comes to card making I go day by day :0). Since I do 95% of my cards with stamping I decided to use teabag folding just because it was easier and I hadn't done any in a long time. I had seen a card on Pinterest making this tree so that's what I did.
Both embossing folders are by Cuttlebug, the star brad I got at Impress it was silver and colored in gold, don't remember with what :0) I did it years ago for some cards and had some left over so worked great for this. The oval was cut with Brother Scan N Cut

This is the view from the side so you can see the 3D, It is a little bumpy to mail but flat enough, I think it will take extra postage as now a days PO is very picky to make extra money :0)

Gift card holder

Can you tell I'm catching up :0) last week's Sunday Tip or Technique was a beanie hat gift card holder by Carolina I made mine with the Brother Scan N Cut, so I took it a step further. My circle was 5-1/4" instead of 5" as the gift card kept showing up. Since I cut it with the machine I could cut the base the size I wanted and then the half circle to fit it. So the half circle was 5-1/4" x 2-9/16" and the base was 5-1/4" x 3-1/8" so it could cover the whole back side as I didn't like the uneven half circles...just my OCD kicking in :0) I don't really like the eyelets showing so I set it with the color on the outside so it would look more finished, and on the front you can't see the eyelet at all. and used a pom pom on the top. After I punched the border with Martha Stewart punch I added some glitter paper on back to give it a little sparkle also rounded the two corners

Tuesday try this

Last week's Tuesday try this was cards with gift boxes. I had already try one of the cards here so decided to try the other. It was mention they could be for Christmas cards or Birthday cards so I picked birthday as I wasn't going to be making any more Christmas cards. Anyway these are a couple of my very clean and simple cards.

The cards are about 3-1/2" x 4-1/4" the gifts were made out of scraps of embossed paper I had with a 1-1/4 square punch I made them in both English & Spanish and in different colors of twine from my stash. Both messages are by SU.

Flower pot card

I sent a flower pot card to an online friend and since she likes to do ATC's I sort of re-did it on that size.
The flowers are SU punches, the leaves is ribbon from Impress and the border punch is by EK Success, the "ribbon" on the pot is iron-on hem tape
Since the insert is too little I added a folded card so there is room for writing a message

This is a side by side of the two cards.

3D card

I saw a card on Pinterest with some snowflakes hanging on the inside and the person that pinned it said it would be a card that would work for Valentine's or Easter so I decided to try it so here is the Valentine's idea.

I used some jewel stickers from Michaels for the front...cut a couple pieces to make the two hearts connected and for the inside I glued back to back with the fishing thread in between. The border punch is by Martha Stewart and the embossing folders the front is Cuttlebug ran with embossing diffuser, the inside left is by Cuttlebug and the inside right is by Crafts-Too

Shoebox Thursday

This week's shoe-box was a clean and simple thank you card, I made it a thank you card just because, we could use Merry Christmas, Happy New Year pretty much anything according to the washi tape we were picking or what we needed. Since I don't have holographic washi tape decided to use that. I did ask Kathy where she got the washi tape but couldn't remember. The message is SU
