Shoebox Tuesday

Today is the last day for Christmas in July and I was having a hard time picking my project as I had too many project still to do so I just picked an easy project that used lots of background papers as right now one of my goals is to use as many papers as I can 😊and a punch I hadn't used. It's really hard to continue to do my goal but with the one sheet wonder and cards like this every little effort helps, figure the sooner I can get rid of the papers I can start buying the papers I really like and no more packages...yes its easier say that done because we get tempted really easy and a lot of times we like some a paper and they get you by only having it available in a packet! so is either don't get it which would be the easiest or get stock with useless papers!!!

The messages are from two Hero Arts sets peace & merry with bamboo leaves and lady bug. First I stamped the message and then it was a matter of gluing the papers any way we wanted and then to embellished I used liquid pearls by Ranger

I decided not to add the flower soft just add message on all of them were in both Spanish and German. For German I used the set by SU Famose Fähnchen, for Spanish I used also SU sets, hostess set en marco and bellos eventos and CTMH happy to be friends all with tuxedo black ink

Shoebox Thursday by Darlene

For today's project, Darlene had a Christmas in July card. We used hometown greetings edgelits dies and hearts come home set both by SU, for the Santa we used StazOn as we were stamping on glitter paper, for the message we used night of navy ink...my ink ran a bit when I put the glue to add the glitter so probably next time I would let it dry completely over night or used different ink. The start was a left over from a previous project Darlene had done. The glitter paper was punched out of a 2" circle. Her sample had the edgelits glued directly to the paper I chose to cover up my houses so there was white on the back not blue. I was going to put yellow acetate on the windows but was way too much work for a sample card LOL

Purple hearts anniversary

I borrowed a set and matching die for another project and while I had it made this simple anniversary card obviously in purple since it's my favorite color 😊

The set is heart happiness and the dies are lots to love, for my background hearts I used charming cascades by CTMH, for all stamping I used sweet plum ink. the top was mounted on foam so the heart is inlay

Shoebox Monday

For today's project, I have another Christmas fun card project and again not much stamping. This time it's a step card or stepper card depends on who you ask some even call it totally different but back in the day when I did my first card it was a step card so that what it is for me 😋 My friends had one way of doing it but I showed them two cards. The first card is the one they did, it uses two piece of cardstock the base it's 11" x 4-1/4" score at 5-1/2" so you'll end up with a regular A2 card the second piece it's would depend on you, on how much border you want, because I didn't have a heavy cardstock in red I had to use white I wanted a small border between my white and my green which ended up 10-1/4" x 4-1/8" and your background paper is also depending on how much border you want I let them with 1/8" around them. The tree is from the set nesties Xmas trees by Sparkle N Sprinkle stamped with bamboo leaves ink die cut with matching dies by Spellbinders 2010 Holiday Tree and sponge the same ink around it. We didn't add any message as pretty much I was just showing them the fold

for this other fold we used the same product except I used a different tree in the set and sponged all over to cover more of the white. It only uses one sheet of paper 11" x 5-1/2" in this case but you can make it any width you want and again the decorative papers all depends on how big or small you want your border.

I like, most of the time, to cover the white cardstock and show off the color cardstock. Do like using white card bases when I'm donating cards so I don't have to add an insert, so the people have where to write their message and when using for personal use I always use an insert regardless of the color of the card stock just because it's easier in case I mess up so I don't have to worry about covering up a nice finished card, the insert gets glued after it's done not before 😊 I know that a lot of people use white or vanilla for cost but we are card makers so we know that if we buy a Hallmark card it would cost between $1-$10 our cards can cost from $5-$50 just in materials LOL of course we an reuse some of the materials, and maybe some day our cards might be free to make with all the materials we have been hoarding, because our labor is always free of charge. I tell Bret that if I charge my labor no one could afford my cards LOL

More Thank you

Today was Impress 31st birthday so I went to their store to see some of the demos and see what was new at the store it has been a long time I hadn't been there as I can't drive long distance. Impress is always going to be a favorite of mine since in part thanks to them I became a stamper back when I came on vacation to visit Bret, his mother took me to Seattle and when we were going to get on the Monorail there was a Impress store there which of course I browse. Years later when Bret asked what I wanted to do I said card because of them, I had never seen so many stamps in one small place 😊 There was some new things that I was interested but only bought two of the new things beside of what I was already thinking of getting. One was a new black ink pad by Tsukineko, clair nocturne it is a pigment ink normally I don't do pigment ink but Cindy said that it's her new favorite ink and works with all the mediums she has tried even Copic and color wise is better than Memento and as far as she recalls it doesn't smell and she had it open and I didn't smell anything and that is my problems with MFT ink pad the moment you open it stinks plus it stains stamps, do like it colorwise but it smells not as bad is StazOn which also stains stamps and not good for Copics but if I can have a nice color and no smell rather do that. Anyway the other thing I bought that I like was the Nuvo aqua flow, they come in sets of 3 or individual pens, they're instant aqua color brushes the set I got is the ocean air so I can use it for water scenes. The other thing I was interested was the Nuvo shimmer powder is sort of like brusho but shimmery the container has a fine tip you put it on any kind of paper you spritz and instant shimmer watercolor background comes like in 10 color the reason I didn't get any was that they were like $5 a piece and you have to really think which colors you would use the most unless of course you get them all and since I really don't do messy I would have to think hard what colors would be worth it and just couldn't decide 😕

There were so many new releases by Pretty Pink Posh, Memory Box, Poppy Stamps, Lawn Fawn, Flora & Fauna and more that was hard to get away with just what I decided to get from the start LOL

Some more thank you cards that went into my donation box. For these cards I used friendship messages by Simon Says Stamp and massive messages by Gina K Designs both with tuxedo black ink

Snoopy

In one of my Yahoo groups we had as a Sunday Tip or Technique six fold card fold that it also became the mingle (aka swap) and because it was this month I made my card Christmas theme. I colored my Snoopy wreath image by Stampabilities with Copic markers and it was stamped with hybrid licorice black ink. I added some epoxy stickers by Recollections for dimension and shine, the ribbon is woven satin by SU

Shoebox Thursday

For today's project I have another Christmas fun fold card. I had gotten this type of card in a swap many years ago and I was putting cards in a donation box when I came across this card as one I saved as to do some day well it finally came. I altered the measurements to fit more evenly to the card but otherwise it's the same fold.

The card sits on a 4.25" x 5.5" card base but I also had a sample with a backing that was a regular card base 8.5" x 5.5" score at 4.25" both cards looked exactly the same on the front but one the back had a white card base.

Because of the type of card it could open to the left or the right depending on how you cut your angle so and your layers that pretty much was what was important depending on the papers you use specially if they're not double sided or directional. For both cards we used on the front wondrous wreath set with rhubarb stalk ink the layers were done with double stitched rectangles by Kat Scrappiness

for the inside we used special season set with rhubarb stalk ink for the message, mowed lawn ink for the tree and rich cocoa dual marker for the trunk

For this one that opened to the right I made it full card base but is exactly as the other, I didn't leave any border on the red layer that went on top of the white base

More OSW

Made some more cards with the one sheet wonder technique. Well not sure if it's actually a technique or not but I am calling it a technique whether it is or not so there LOL

After I made these and these cards I had some papers left over and I liked the paper so once again was saved for one sheet wonder cards and this is what I did with them. Used Pink and Main, Clearly Besotted & Echo Park all with tuxedo black ink
