Feliz Día de Muertos

Today is Day of the Dead a day we honor and celebrate our loved ones that have passed on. We welcomed them to come an visit us with ofrendas of food & drinks. Personally, I think dead people can't eat or drink so offering them those things are a waste so I set up my altar with fake food and a bit of Tequila mixed with water so it doesn't look clear LOL but still want them to see they are loved and missed. This year we have added my dad, brother-in-law and foster mom to the loved ones. Because we have way to many people instead of putting actual pictures I put a digital frame so all our loved ones are rotating constantly we didn't omit anyone from family & friends are being honor & celebrated.

I have been joining some ladies to craft live on Zoom on Saturdays and each week there is a new challenge which is optional, a different person gives out the challenge and one of the weeks was my turn to give it and since we were gone and hadn’t crafted all I could think of anything other than my altar for Día de Muertos that I was working on and decorating for Halloween the following day my challenge was:

Halloween or Fall for those that don’t celebrate Halloween, Easel card since I love fun folds, the use of die cut, sticker or ephemera and a while back they started using this color combo cards by Sarah Renae Clark. I really didn't want to use one since I don't own it to have a color combo that went with my theme but was lucky that the card 13 went with it as it was fall colors: mustard, orange, scarlet, hunter green & dark green.

Made my card for neither Halloween or Fall but used the colors and it happens in Fall and had some fall items. I made it for Día de Muertos that is right after Halloween. For card base used from Gina K’s winter assortment pack Christmas pine cardstock. For the rest used scraps of Recollections 110 lb. black and Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 120 lb. cover smooth white cardstock.

The skeletons and head stones are from September 2019 paper pumpkin bone appétit kit. Added a bit of color to the head stones with silver lake Altenew crisp dye ink. The stitched coffin were die cut and glued back to back as you can see front and back. The skull is from sugar skull stamp & die combo set by HA stamped with VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and crisp dye ink mountain pine then robbed some crisp dye ink silver lake; die cut 3 more for dimension. Needed something for my afrendas for the dead so remember autumn bounty stamp & cut set by HA so colored some cardstock with Tim Holtz distress oxide spiced marmalade, lumberjack plaid, mustard seed, a bit of crisp dye mountain pine stamped them with VersaFine Clair fallen leaves die cut them plus 3 more; on the leftover inked paper also die cut some miscellaneous leaves to ground them since we normally put the food somewhere for them to come for the feast either table or table cloth. For the stopper found another darker green cardstock.
