Happy 84th

Today is my dad's birthday and since he likes blue I made him a card using one of the new to me layered cupcake sets in blue shades. I had fun making a bunch of this with all combos and this was the winner for his card. I used for the wrapper Altenew crisp ink northern shore collection polar bear, icy water, winter lake and artic mountain; for the cupcake Altenew crisp ink delectable delights collection hazelnut and fall harvest collection yellow ochre; for the frosting Altenew crisp dye ink deep blue seas collection sea breeze, turquoise, tide blue and starlight: for the candle Altenew crisp ink green valley collection firefly, shadow creek, pocketful of sunshine collection citrus burst and honey drizzle. The paper doily is an old one by SU; the feliz cumpleaños is from Luisa Elena Guillen-K set Feliz by Sizzix with VersaFina Clair nocturne ink I masked the message as well as the cupcake and then sprayed with distress oxide spray faded jeans

Winter wishes

We have been lucky so far, it has been very cold but we haven't had any snow. I know some other states and even in our state have gotten some but not in my city which is good even if I'm stuck at home. For these cards I used distress oxide sprays mermaid lagoon and faded jeans a bit of distress spray stain picket fence, mica spray brushed pewter and shimmer spray frost. When it was completely dry I die cut my layer with double stitched rectangle by Kat Scrappiness then stamped dancing snowflakes background stamp by MB with blue bayou ink and die cut the snowflake from Jen Long snowflake wreath framelit with stamps set. The message warm winter wishes is from color layering baby penguin set by HA same ink punched out with large oval by SU the tiny birthday is by Endless Creations I cut it for the happy birthday that was part of a cube. The winter cards went in my donation box for Gray Matter Foundation

Feliz Día de las Guadalupes

Today in Mexico is a big celebration, we celebrate the Virgen of Guadalupe and everyone that has the name Guadalupe has a Santo and my mom is included as well as some friends so this year I decided to make a slimline card for them. Thousands of people all over the world come to the Basilica to visit the Virgin, not sure how will it be this year with the pandemic, how sad times. We were able to visit one year so Bret could see how it was just before the day as this day it's a day we/my family would not be there

I used the new set by Colorado Craft Company slimline poinsettias,  I just had to have this set as poinsettias are my most favorite flowers don't care what color but specially the red. Growing up we used to have a tree or plant right outside the door and during December-March it bloomed so big that cover half our yard, our yard was little but still. Anyway I sprayed my layer with oxide spray fire brick, spray stain candied apple and shimmer spray frost then stamped one of the poinsettias from the set. The message is from two Spanish messages set one by Stampendous the one that says Felicidades and the other unknown. The enamel dots are from Recollections. All stamping was done with VersaFine Clair nocturne ink

Happy Thanksgiving

This was a quick card as I sprayed some distress oxide sprays on a box making sure I had some cardstock underneath, learned that trick from Jennifer McGuire and has been great to make quick cards later as all the work is already done. I used walnut stain, vintage photo and fossilized amber then after completely dry I stamped whispering wheat background stamp by Peddler's Pack with VersaFine Clair fallen leaves ink and then I looked into all my dies to see if I had something that said Thanksgiving and found this wreath. It was a little hard to attach to cardstock, I should have removed the release paper while in the die and then attach to cardstock but since I was working on assembly line which means I cut all layer, stamp every and die cut everything then assemble. I assemble all cards as it was easier to add die cut at that point TO ME and that's when I realized it would have been easier to have die cut and apply and I was too lazy to die cut more so did my best to keep them as they should be, wasn't worry about it to be a circle but the words to be straight as...live and learn

Fall spray cards

Sometime ago I watched a video by Jennifer McGuire where she suggested to use cardstock under your spray area or box that way you didn't waste the excess spray so after doing some spraying for the cards I posted on Wednesday I had a sheet left over for later projects and when I needed some cards this is what I made. All cards were a bit different as the sheet was just short of 11" x 17" and the sprays went all over as I kept moving the layer to fill the big cardstock.

For all the stamping I useVersaFine Clair fallen leaves the stamp on the left is words to birds collage stamp by MB for the first cards the words are by smile stamp set by Gina K Design

and for these cards I used the happy from happy stamp & cut by HA and a wish for everything by SU

Monoprinting Class Homework Day 3

I took a class with Altenew Academy with Sara Naumann, Monoprinting made easy. I was trying to do something new. I took this class July 2019 couldn't play with the technique until I got my gel plate and after that I just did backgrounds like a lot of people and never did anything with them but needed to work on a card for a mingle aka swap and the rest went into my donation box for Gray Matters Foundation.

Day 3 was using pigment ink. For my backgrounds I used my monoprint plate by Grafix Impress which is more like a plastic not gel for ink I used Brilliance Archival Pigment ink mineral then I put some distress seedless preserves on my glass mat added water and splatter it with a brush onto the plate I used Neenah paper. I just keep adding more water on the plate light splitz at the end I used a brayer.

For all cards I sprayed a background of oxide spray picked raspberry, stamped the hope collage stamp by MB with VersaFine Clair fallen leaves ink and very carefull color the flowers with Copic Markers as this ink is not Copic friendly then die cut with SU's rectangular stitched framelits and then cut a pink layer with 1/8" border

Paper Pumpkin

My sister celebrates today her anniversary and I sent her this card. It was another alternative to the I'll bee yours January 2020 kit. I used stitched square stax die by MFT then I used distress oxide spray wilted violet for my background and since I didn't have the matching ink for the kit I used dusty concord to stamp the printed die-cut hearts from kit with the kit's set the message is from anniversary2 celebrate stamp set by The Stamps of Life also with dusty concord

Wishing you

For these cards I used some left over backgrounds. Jennifer McGuire said once that if you were going to do some spraying it would be a good idea to use paper behind that you could reuse so instead of using text weight paper on my box or the plain box I cover my box with card stock every time I was spraying with my distress spray and this was some of my left over pieces I just cut them to fit my card. Stamped with VersaFine Clair ink nocturne the message is from sending & wishing stamp set by SSS and added some enamel accents dimensional faux enamel black

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Hope you are all safe celebrating St Patrick's Day! For my card today I did my version to Jennifer McGuire's surprise window card that was our Sunday Tip or Technique. Her card was a 3 panel card but I didn't want to mess with 3 panels so I only used my opening and the inside plus I added a message on the inside and since there was plenty of room for my message...I'm not one to write much most of the time it was big enough.

I first did the inside and then worked my way out. I had my main image done from many years ago somehow I colored them and then set aside and forgot I had them so finally got to used them so I mounted the ATC size card on my green panel then cut an oval piece of shamrock paper and mounted on top then mounted those to my card base then cut my top layer opening of a bigger oval. I did both with my pieced ellipse dies. The penguin is St Patrick's penguin stamp by MB stamped with tuxedo black and colored with Copic Markers. I had some leftover dies from the rectangle stitched framelits by SU so I stamped my message by Studio G with mowed lawn before I attached the labels I masked the card front and I sprayed some distress oxide peeled paint and after it dried I stamped some shamrocks from a very old set by SU called lucky me with mowed lawn then I attached the labels on on the outside and the other on the inside

Paper hug

Was playing again with my plastic stencils, distress oxide sprays and my Make Art Stay-tion by Wendy Vecchi. What I did was put the stencil basket weaved by Picket Fence Studios on my cardstock and attached it with the magnets then sprayed with peeled paint, wasn't sure what it was going to do but guess it was too get to my liking so grabbed on of my life changing blender brushes as they were at arm reach comparte to my blending tool foams and started to spread the ink and then removed the stencil and did some spray again let it dry completely and stamped my message which is also by Picket Fence Studio with VersaFine Clair nocturne ink and added some Nuvo Crystal Drops bottle green

12th Day of Christmas

Happy last Day of Christmas is hard to believe that we are done with Christmas and decorations will be going down next weekend. Bret is happy but I don't like the house looking so empty after having so much cheer in the house for 37 days, good thing I will still have the nativity until February 😁

This is the card I made for my family which is the only people that celebrate this holiday. For my background I sprayed Imagine sheer shimmer craft  spray frost, distress oxide spray faded jeans and distress mica spray brushed pewter and since I'm really into shaker cards I used MFT large rectangle shaker pouches and some sequins I found at JoAnn, the The Wise Men are a die by Crafter's Companion

Shoebox Tuesday

For today's project I had a messy project using distress spray stain I have them 3 colors and of course each card came out different depending on how far or how close, how much or how little you press the stray it's how much stain you get. After they did their spray they heat set their paper and then stamped the image which was autumn leaf collage by Memory Box with VersaFine Clair fallen leaves. My card I didn't heat set as I had plenty of time to dry and looking at my recipe I also used one oxide spray color. The colors I gave them were candied apple, shaded lilac and scattered straw. the oxide I used was cracked pistachio these are the cards I made using this colors. The layers were cut with double stitched rectangle die by Kat Scrappiness and rectangle stitched framelits by SU. The outer piece, the frame was mounted on foam and the inside piece was mounted flat

Anniversary

Today is one of my dear friend's wedding anniversary and this is the card I sent her and her hubby. I wanted to use this new stamp butterfly for a while but seems never had enough time so made time finally and decide the combine with this other set so I could play with my Nuvo Drops.

First I stamped the outline of the Rubbernecker watercolor butterfly stamp then I die cut the heart with Gina Marie Designs stitched hearts die, then I stamped the second layer of the butterfly with distress oxide spray picked raspberry and fossilized amber then I sponged my grass with mowed lawn ink and the clouds with tumbled glass ink with a very old plastic stencil that had the clouds on top and grass on bottom and some other stuff in the middle. Mounted the layer on foam and then stamped the heart with amalgam whisper ink and then cover each dot with Nuvo Crystal Drops one line rhubarb crumble and one line gloss party pink
