Lemonade anyone?

I needed to make a summer card and wanted to try this lay out I have seen. The lemonade is by The Stamps of Life and I cut it with my Brother Scan N Cut machine as I didn't have the die set but now with this machine I don't really need a lot of dies. Sometimes is frustrating that the machine doesn't see the image to cut but for the must part I have been able to do what I need. I colored it with Copic Markers

Lighthouse

I love black & white combo so when going through my pre-stamped images I decided to make this card without coloring.

The stamp is by Stampa Rosa and the embossing folder is Cuttlebug

Key board

I love this die by Memory Box as I can make cards for any occasion...just a note, anniversary. Dave also has the music notes die to match it! it was a bit hard to adhere so what I did was made a sticky paper with scor tape then ran it through the Vagabond and if you're very careful you could use the negative and positive pieces. Anyway after it's all cut it's easy to glue down even though you have to pay attention you glue it straight :0)

Jar shaped card

On one of the blogs I follow, I believe Dawn's had a card in the shape of a jar so I decided to try it BUT I didn't like how the bottom was so I just used a corner rounder. TO ME the whole purpose of following a blog by email is to get the message and sample without having to go to their blog specially since I don't go blogs or website right away as on this case I didn't have time to check her video tutorial so of course when I first played with this I did it the regular 8.5 x 5.5 size but didn't think it through and when adding the twine you couldn't open the card without undoing the knot so I decided to do it the opposite way 11 x 4.25 and it worked great. I added a scoring on the front side to make it nicer to open. On her tutorial that I finally watch she thread the twine through the "hole" area duh how smart LOL probably I would have figure that out if I kept playing with it more but I just decided to do it the other way and liked the results plus the twine goes around the whole card not just the front :0)

All the cut outs were done with the Brother Scan N Cut machine, the jar shape was done with the envelope punch board. The stars embossing folder is by Craft Concept. The patriotic twine is Maya Road that after a year I'm finally using it :0)

Stampin' Up Fancy Folds

I went to a SU workshop where we were doing cards with the thinlits card dies we used both the Label & Circle.

All supplies were SU and except for me doing the folding or stamping the wrong way I pretty much did the cards just as they were shown :0)

This one the original way was cutting through on the back panel but since I'm used to doing this way I forgot, I could have fixed it but I didn't think was a need :0)

We should have started with this card as it was the most time consuming mostly because we had to do a lot of masking and the flower & punch only match if you stamp it the right way otherwise you have to keep cutting the paper to align the punch...since someone else was using the punch I thought I could save time by stamping all the flowers but is one of those that you have to mark the stamp what way you should stamp on paper to easily align punch :0)

The back wasn't supposed to look this way BUT since I did it the opposite way you could say I stamped the wrong panel but at the end it worked out fine

This last one I did it the wrong side again, the circle was on the opposite side :0)
also what I did different on this to the sample was the message and silver star are glued on acetate but you could see the glue dot so I added another piece of label on back of message, another silver star and on the bottom I added the left over inner star

Flower soft

This is another card I made using Memory Box/Poppy Stamps dies and flower soft. The other card was a view from outside to inside and this one is from inside to outside so of course I added acetate to the window. Also added some clouds and being in WA that is 99.7% over cast they're in the gray tone as there is probably a big chance of rain :0) used Memento London Fog for that

Easel gate card

One of my adoptive aunts is turning 80 this week and since she likes red this is the card I made her for this milestone. It's an easel gate fold card. I use one of my new dies by Elizabeth Crafts (the stopper), the image is a digital by Jade Dragonne

I colored it with Copic Markers and added some Wink of Stella on the scarf which it doesn't show on the picture :0(

Scrapbook Expo

This past weekend (July 11 & 12) was the Scrapbook Expo at Puyallup WA it was again a pretty small show maybe 20 vendors. I think the worst part wasn't the few vendors but that they had them all packed in a corner too closed to each other so it felt crowded. They have the whole building so plenty of room to spread them out to make it easy for people to walk around, see demos and product as well as having more room for people with wheelchairs. There was at least two people with wheel chairs and one of them was with me, in two booths she had to get out of the wheelchair as there was no room at all for it.

Since it's an expensive show $10 per day ($8 if you pre-buy tickets BUT there is a $3 fee for buying online) I take classes as they give you the admission free with the pre-registration. I only take classes if there is something that interest me as the classes are also very expensive...to me.

The class I took on Friday was with The Rubber Cafe it was "always fabulous folds" for $38. We had one project in 1.5 hours and one project to work at home. The way I figure it is $38-$8 (admission)-$14.99 (free stamp) so the class itself was $$16.51 (with half the fee cost)

I don't think in the 3 years I have taken classes with them we have never finished the projects. The other years were more project in the same 1.5hrs. This year since we have to go at along with everyone else and we all have different speeds the instructor has to keep up with them and the first part of the class was cutting we had to cut the top and bottom by hand then trace one piece on the background paper and cut and having the Scan N Cut machine just makes it easier for my hands so decided not to cut there and since I didn't cut the pieces I couldn't do the decoration.

This is the project we started there. It was a double slider box

But as you know even though I like 3D projects I don't have room to store them so I remade it into a card. I used the top and bottom of the box for the base of the card

it was still 3D as the flowers were bulky. the only thing I changed from the pieces they gave us was one of the flowers as it was making the flower out of wrinkled circles so I used the flower trim from Stampin' Up (now retired)

This was the take home project. We got the flat base and all the die cuts. I punched the edge of the paper added all the flowers and once again I used one of the SU flower trim instead of making the flower with the circles

The class on Saturday was with Krazy Kreations. Coloring with Copic markers on glitter paper & paper and peel-off stickers. This class was one hour. We had two project to color one on glitter paper and the other on plain paper. 3 years ago when I took their first class we got a stamp, 3 Copic Markers and Copic glitter pen this time we only got a black Copic Marker which was a duplicate for me. The breakdown come to $22-$8 (admission) -$8 (marker) so class itself was $7.50 (including the other half of fee)

In all the classes we have taken we had to pretty much beg for the instructions as Kara says she wants to be green so she doesn't print instruction and do all via email but she seems to forget to send the papers until we remind her. Last year as well as this year the markers we had to use in class were dried which doesn't help the blending which to me is being unprepared. I was late to class because I was shopping :0) and didn't hear the alarm so by the time we got to class they had already added the sticker to the glitter paper and were listening to some instructions so didn't hear her excuse of why we were using the wrong color of markers.

This was the original card we were supposed to do

and she did supplied everything to do it on this color...white card base, black layer and this

But then she realize she had either the wrong makers or changed her mind so she also gave us this

This was my finished projects. I didn't use neither of the pieces above as I didn't like it with the color we used on the flowers. Also I changed the pearls from off white to black and added another pearl in the center of the open flower. We weren't supposed to color the background but the blender pen was pretty wet compare to the B00 so it bled outside the lines.

This one was peel-off on glitter paper

This one was peel-off direct on Neenah paper, I added the yellow since I did it on the above piece :0)

Copic Markers Journal

This journal covers my "inventory" and color combos. Since I have all the markers pretty much what it does to me is to check how each color actually looks as the pages are done with the cardstock I use to color images. Color combos I have images I have colored besides some combos to go back to

On the section for my inventory I have one page for each color and as you can see there is space in case new colors come out. The first column is the name of the marker the next two columns are for the "code" if I have the Ciao marker I put the "BV00" in the Ciao column if I have the Sketch maker then I have the code in the Sketch column. I have a couple duplicate markers and pretty much is one Ciao and one Sketch so I have the code in both columns, I have some original markers but I do not have them anywhere yet. The last column is colored with each marker so I can see how it looks plus the difference in shade if I'm picking markers this is very useful.

On the color combos section I have sheets with images...wood, eyes, lips, hair/skin, clothes, etc. Most of them are from 2-4 images and the area to add the colors used

The images I have colored and saved I add all the info in the sheet and then just glued the image

Last but not least this is the cover I put on this journal.

Copic Markers Journal

This is the last journal I have at the moment. On this one I have all the handout I have gotten in classes and some of the samples done in them. Because at one point I was not planning on having a journal most images I did in the classes I was doing cards so I have those in boxes with the rest of my sample cards.

and this is the cover I used

Shoebox Thursday

This shoe-box project was done by Kathy. It was a fun card although those are not my colors :0) I know I have used this color but guess when you have papers you have to use them. I pretty much like to work with any color but have to say that white on white, black & white are my favorite and don't know why I tent to go for craft, red and purple a lot. Anyway I believe the stamp is by Hero Arts but no 100% sure, the picture doesn't show the glitter glue added on the thick parts of the music note
