Challenge

I have been joining the Saturday with Bridget workshop that has Altenew Educators along with other card makers and they have a challenge every week. For the week of February 25 five 5 people gave one item to use on the card embossing powder, alcohol inks, embellishments, edge die cut or partial die cutting and shaker card.  So this was my take to 4 of the 5 things as I don’t do embossing

All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white cardstock. All product is Altenew unless otherwise noted.

On a layer white cardstock blended Tim Holtz distress oxide tumbled glass, salty ocean & blueprint sketch then grabbed one of my alcohol background that I had made in the past

and die cut with sunset on the sea hot foil & die set by Trinity Stamps then partially die cut a circle frame from circle die set wreath builder mini stamp kit by Gina K Design several times for the shaker bits added micro beads and confetti bits that I had saved from a past project and glued all to the layer then mounted to an A2 card base

Challenge

I have been joining the Saturday with Bridget workshop that has Altenew Educators along with other card makers and they have a challenge every week. For the week of February 11 it was primary colors, stencil, bicycle if we didn’t have something to substitute with geometric shapes.

All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white cardstock. All product is Altenew unless otherwise noted.

This is my take. Started with a piece of white cardstock then using one of my slimline stencils colored with Tim Holtz distress inks fossilized amber, fired brick & mermaid lagoon trying to mix in between colors, for the bottom used PPP layered roads stencil set with Tim Holtz distress hickory smoke. Then using Build-a-bike die & stamp set freebie from one of the UK magazines using scraps of cardstock die cut 4 tires and 5 bike frames, two of the frames were cut partially just to give an even stability on the tires. Then stamped the message from set with Altenew obsidian pigment exceptionally crisp ink then punched out with 1-1/2” circle punch by Recollections added a bit of colored from the blending brushes without adding more ink from using on the stencil, then cut two more circles on one punched the little thing of the balloon from balloon bouquet punch by SU then found a scrap of twine and tied between the bike and balloon

Challenge

I have been joining the Saturday with Bridget workshop that has Altenew Educators along with other card makers and they have a challenge every week. For the week of January 28 was two things one was clean & simple and the other was monochromatic.

All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white cardstock.

I used heart border. This die only cuts border of the hearts but you can have as little or as much area on the left side so I left about 1/2” from the farthest heart, then glued it to the card base then inlaid 3 layers of white hearts and on another layer colored with Tim Holtz distress inks bottom to top abandoned coral, crackling campfire, candied apple, fired brick, lumberjack plaid, and aged mahogany. Think I should have mixed order on the first two colors but oh well.

Challenge

I have been joining the Saturday with Bridget workshop that has Altenew Educators along with other card makers and they have a challenge every week. The week from Jan. 21 was using a new stamp/stamp set, embossing folder, washi tape, detail with white pen, message had to be on a banner and using green and purple color.

All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white cardstock. All supplies are Altenew unless otherwise posted

For my card, started with a piece white cardstock that ran through gentle butterfly botanical 3D embossing folder then used the matching simple coloring layered stencil set with crisp die inks from the tropical forest collection bamboo & olive, from the enchanted garden collection hydrangea, ultraviolet & andromeda, from the nature's wonders collection sea forest and from the rock collection industrial diamond, for the legs colored with Copic Marker C4 and for the antennas E53. Then cut the piece to mount on a A2 layer of purple passions 65 lb. by Recollections which was mounted to an A2 card base. Finally added dashes with must-have gel pen white. For the banner used banner triple punch by SU stamped the message from lotus frame outline stamp set with obsidian pigment exceptionally crisp ink then added the washi tape on top and on bottom and one Darice rhinestone setter hot-fix 4mm embellishment light purple nail head

Challenge & Sympathy

I have been joining the Saturday with Bridget workshop that has Altenew Educators along with other card makers and they have a challenge every week. For the week of January 14 was a card using orange.

All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white cardstock. All product is Altenew unless otherwise noted.

I had been wanting to use this bundle but like we all, too many toys not enough time LOL. Started by grabbing a piece of 6x6 white cardstock then using the bountiful butterflies 6x6 builder stencil set with crisp dye inks from the warm and cozy collection sunkissed, orange cream, and autumn blaze; from the four scoops collections dark chocolate; from rock collection silver stone. Then die cut it with rectangle stitched die by Kat Scrappiness, then die cut a layer of orange 65 lb. Core’dinations sand it, tear it, emboss it, love it with glass effects Shapeabilities by Spellbinders and mounted both to an A2 card base. Using 2-1/2” circle punch by EK Success punched on 65 lb. vellum cardstock by Stamp On It then die cut 4 butterflies with the matching die set and on one of them I colored with the same colors as the background then glued all together and then glued on to the vellum

normally I leave cards without messages until I need them so for this card used a foil plate since I don’t like wet embossing. Picked mini Christmas sentiment strips hot foil plate & die set by Spellbinder for the Glimmer Hot Foil System which is what I have and used scraps of Glimmer foil opaque black from the set black & white. Didn’t use the die to cut the message just the guillotine. The message said joyful blessings to all but in all the set I had there was no sympathy plate so this ones the one that would work the best for what I needed.

Card Shadow Box with Vellum

I took a workshop with Laurie Patterson educator from Altenew. She called her card shadow box with vellum. The class was to make 2 cards but since I hate doing embossing only made one as I was having issues with the embossing LOL

All supplies are Altenew unless otherwise noted. All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white cardstock.

Started by stamping the image from build-a-garden: magnificent branch on vellum translucent paper with VersaMark ink and embossing with Hero Arts white embossing powder. We were supposed to color with alcohol marker but I decide to use the matching layered stencils with crisp dye inks from the four scoop collection dark chocolate, from the jewel tones collection green onyx and from the sugarplums collection all 4 colors. I colored on the front and then on the back as you can use stencils both ways. For the frame used 4 layers die cut with glass effects Shapeabilities by Spellbinders and Cindy Echtinaw Designs Card Creator Perfect Layers A. Die cut leaves from just leaves die set which I glued all over a layer of white that was die cut with the same glass effects so everything will match perfectly and then mounted the frames except for 1 which I glued on top of the vellum and finally mounted all to an A2 card base

Craft the Year Away

For New Year’s Eve I spent the evening at in a Zoom event with Altenew educators Bridget & Amy called Craft the Year Away. It was 7 hours; we received the year from the East Coast to Hawaii.

All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except for the A2 card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white card stock. All products are Altenew unless otherwise noted

This is another card we made. For this card was using the same gracious peonies simple coloring layered stencils as I used on the card two days ago but stamping the image which I did with VersaFine Clair morning mist on a layer of white cardstock then used crisp dye inks sugarplums collection pale mauve, amethyst, grape agate, plum, and for the leaves, sea shore collection mountain mist, volcano lake, lagoon, emerald. Then restamped with obsidian pigment exceptionally crisp ink. Then die cut with coordinating die and depending on how I wanted on the card I cut 3 more layers for dimension. Die cut a layer of white cardstock with Cindy Echtinaw Designs Card Creator Perfect Layers A then stamped the message from the stamp set. It was to use washi tape on the top of the panel but I didn’t have one so I used image from dense bubble stamp set with VersaFine Clair morning mist then mounted to an A2 card base and finally rhinestones jewels.

Spotlight Technique Challenge

On one of my groups we used to have Tip or Technique Sunday and decided to switch it to Tip or Technique Challenge month. For the month of March 2023, we are doing Spotlight technique.

All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except for the A2 card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white card stock

For this card I used the second video that was given as refresher of the technique which was by Jackie Bolhuis Klompen Stamper her way was color with alcohol marker and fussy cut then mount with foam.

I die cut a panel of white cardstock with double stitched rectangle die by Kat Scrappiness then stamped the images from My Hero Monthly Kit January 2021 with VersaFine Clair nocturne ink. Using my stamp platform stamped the second image and this is where I changed my card from her by coloring with Copic Marker (V01, V04, V06, Y15, Y17, BG000) fussy cut the flower and die cutting the bee but decided to mount the flower flat and added the a total of 4 bees. Also added some Spectrum Noir sparkle Crystal clear glitter brush on the wings of the bee

Then die cut layer of purple cardstock by Core’dinations 65 lb. with Cindy Echtinaw Designs Card Creator Perfect Layers A

Spotlight technique challenge

On one of my groups we used to have Tip or Technique Sunday and decided to switch it to Technique Challenge month. For the month of March 2023, we are doing Spotlight technique.

All white cardstock is Accent Opaque Digital International Paper 80 lb. cover smooth white cardstock except for the A2 card base that is Recollections 110 lb. white card stock.

This card is the old fashion way I used to do the spotlight technique or how I learned to do it back in the day. Which in other words you pick a big image and then you color a section and then die cut or punch out that colored section and mount with mostly black or neutral dark color cardstock back in the same place. In my card with the magic of the stamp platform I stamp my image twice which was from pure joy stamp set by Pinkfresh Studio colored with matching layered stencils with Altenew crisp dye ink frayed leaf, forest glades, sunkissed, orange cream, hydrangea and for all white areas used Tim Holtz distress oxide tumbled glass punched it out with 2” circle punch by EK Success used 2 extra circles for dimension and a black 2-1/4” circle punch also by EK Success. Die cut main layer with double stitched rectangle die by Kat Scrappiness mounted to a black layer of Recollections 110 lb. that was die cut with glass effects Shapeabilities by Spellbinders and mounted to A2 card base and then put back the image to where it belong to finish the card
