Shoe box Thursday
Today was Kathy's turn to host our play day and have a shoe-box project for us. The project was triple stamping, she has been wanting to try the technique. We used mostly SU product except for the liquid pearl around the outline of the butterfly. It was a simple but hard stamp to use...to big of a stamp for me to use, but love that image. I would have done the card A6 or square instead of A2 or maybe the layers would have been different as you can barely see the bottom layer...still like how it turned out
Also a dear friend turned 88 today, and since she likes blue this is the card she got from me...guess it's more like a greenish blue but still blue LOL

Stampers' Drop In
Today was the first Stampers' drop in of the year at Impress. This make and take its held every other Wednesday. A couple years ago I decided that I would make it my resolution to attend to every make and take or open house they would have. They're the only stamp store in the area, it nice to have a local place where you can get what you can't find at the local craft store and without having to wait for your package to arrive :0) plus pretty much they will order anything you need.
We did this clean and simple thank you card. All products (ink & stamps) were from Impress, the heart don't know who makes it its out of wood

The next event they are having is their Valentine's event, Jan. 18, they're calling it Come rain or snow. They will change all their display samples and will have all the new things for Valentine's Day and they will have demos & a class. I always love to see the new stuff gets me into the mood for the holiday.

Retirement
This first card it's from this week's Sunday tip or technique. It was a fun card, it's a Z fold card but modified. Not sure if this is easier than the regular Z card but got me out of my procrastination LOL. For about a year I wanted to make a retired card for Uncle James and Aunt Donna that retired as of 12/31 but somehow I just couldn't come up with a card for Uncle James so of course couldn't send Aunt Donna's card. Any way this is the card I did for Uncle James.
For Aunt Donna and a friend was just a regular fold card. Penny Black hedgehogs were one of my favorites at one point but now it seems like I don't use them often enough
You think that we will start doing everything we couldn't do while working but the truth is our time was better organized while working than when you don't work and of course you get more things going on but having all day to do them is when we start procrastinating or putting off for later :0)

Sympathy
We had Uncle John's funeral today in Sunnyside, WA, he went home on 12/28/ 2013. Even though it was awful circumstances it was great seeing my husband's uncles, aunts, cousins, their kids and grandkids. Some I hadn't met before.
On the way there we got to see the sunrise it was so cool. Weather never warmed up, most of the water everywhere was frozen, there was barely any snow, just around the pass but that was it. We left home at dark and came home at dark :0)
This is the card I sent to his wife. We made one at club but with other colors, I really like the combination of brown & pink. Other than the papers & ribbon everything else is SU

And I made this card to send to each of his children and their families as well as his brother and family.
We also did something similar to this at club but since I didn't have the SU supplies we used, I made it with the supplies I had. I love purple in all shades and tones so of course had to do it on this card. Seems like I tent to use a lot this color. The punches are SU, the embossing folder Cuttlebug, the cross is Spellbinders and the stamp Endless Creations
Faux brick
Today is the last day of Christmas and in México is when we celebrate DÃa de Reyes...Kings Day or Epiphany. One of the traditions we have is a special sweet bread called Rosca de Reyes
inside this bread there are little toys that represents baby Jesus. And it's a surprise where they are as it represents when Jesus was hidden from the bad guys that wanted to kill him.
Each person has to cut their own piece because if you cut anywhere where you can see the baby it's yours. It's supposed to be a blessing getting one of the babies but for the most part we joke and hope not to get one as if you do then you will have to host a dinner party. This year at my sister & brother-in-law's the rosca had 8 babies!! On the first round we all got one and later my BIL got another and we split the leftover bread and while checking to see that there weren't any more babies they got two more and I got one more so at the end since they got 5 babies (my BIL got a total of 3) they will host the dinner party on Feb. 2nd
I made this card for my family and a friend that celebrates this holiday
The stamp is a retired SU, I wanted to try this faux brick technique and thought it would work great for it
