Shoebox Tuesday

On the 11th day of Christmas and our first meeting in 2016 for Tuesdays I show you the shoebox project I had for everyone to make.

It's another winter card. We got some snow last Sunday so makes it easy to be in the winter spirit :0) the trees are a SU set, the message is Savvy Stamps

We also celebrated Día de Reyes and surprisingly I was the only one that got a baby Jesus

12th day of Christmas

Can't believe today is the 12th and last day of Christmas. Most of my Christmas decorations will go down sometime after tomorrow :0)  We called  this day Día de Reyes, in English it's Epiphany. It was the day when the wisemen arrived to meet baby Jesus and brought him gifts.

This is the card I made for my family.
The stamp is an old SU set embossed clear on white (VersaMark & powder), the lace tape & glimmer paper are from SU as well, the ribbon by Offray and where the message, which is custom made, is it's part of a die from Fancy Tags Three by Spellbinders

9th day of Christmas

Today is the 9th day of Christmas and since my sister is leaving before the celebration we celebrated Día de Reyes...King's Day or Epiphany today.

We had an unusual meal for this holiday, as Bret wanted to do some BBQ, so we had hamburgers. For dessert we had our traditional Rosca de Reyes

This year we got it at the same store in Auburn and they only put 2 of the little toys that represents baby Jesus. As tradition we each had to cut our own piece and Bret was the first lucky or unlucky one depends on how you see it and BIL was the second and last one :0)

Originally this meant that on Día de la Candelaria, February 2nd the godparents would get clothes for the nativity's baby Jesus, then we'll all go to the special mass where we get our baby Jesus blessed afterwards we went to a tamale party hosted by the godparents. In the States they don't do any of this so we just have the rosca and whomever gets the little baby Jesus hosts a dinner, sometimes we have tamales other times whatever we feel like it :0) since my sister and Bret work we not always do it on February 2nd either :0)

My other sister arrived early and since we were cooking some Mexican food for tomorrow we ended up making some tamales norteños. It was a lot of work but not hard to make after all...well, we'll know when we try to make them again LOL

Frappucchino bottles

Today we got to see Santa. Since my hands weren't well enough I couldn't do my projects but got everything to work on them as soon as I can.

I had about 120 empty frappucchino bottles to give away but only got rid off 48 as the other ladies didn't know what they could do with them so I decided to post what I have done and a couple that were gifts. Maybe I can get people interested in these bottles otherwise they'll be going to the recycle :0)

This was the first time I have seen using this idea. Liz had a Stampin' Up  Retreat which I join just the last day. This was one of the projects

This one was a gift for the baby shower of a cousin-in-law

These two were gift. Candee had been the recipient of my bottles and she did these for a Christmas Bazaar

            

This one was for St Patrick's day, I know I should had taken pictures when they were full of candy or cookies :0) I got the hats at JoAnn Fabrics

For this Easter one  I bought the little box of eggs at JoAnn's it came with assortment of colored eggs so I gave my friends their favorite color and it was full of cookies, The egg is glued to moss

This one for 4th of July were used as a party favor. The hats are from Hobby Lobby and the ribbon from Michaels

These two were different years for Halloween. The mason jar is a die by either SU or Spellbinders

     

This one was for Día de Reyes or Epiphany. The embossing folder is by Cuttlebug

          

This one I was just playing around and wrapped twine around it. Thought it would make a nice manly gift

Last but not least since I had too many bottles when I redid my craft room I decided to use some as organizing containers. I label on top, the circle punched was with color (mostly the color of what was in)  and then I printed what was in and punched out with scallop circle this way I don't have to get the bottle out of the box to see what's inside. Also I label on the bottle itself with company's name and product with ID # so I know what to put on my recipe :0) It works great for candy dots, flower soft, paper flowers and any other embellishment. I love the fact they're clear and all the same color :0)

               

 

                

 

I also made one for my used blades. Since you can't just drop your dull blade on the garbage I decided to just keep in here and when it gets full I can safely dispose of the blades without problem that someone might cut themselves :0) 

      

I have done others but didn't keep a photo :0) normally these bottles are gifts specially as Thank you for my sister & Brother-in-law and just because for Bret

Faux brick

Today is the last day of Christmas and in México is when we celebrate Día de Reyes...Kings Day or Epiphany. One of the traditions we have is a special sweet bread called Rosca de Reyes

inside this bread there are little toys that represents baby Jesus. And it's a surprise where they are as it represents when Jesus was hidden from the bad guys that wanted to kill him.

Each person has to cut their own piece because if you cut anywhere where you can see the baby it's yours. It's supposed to be a blessing getting one of the babies but for the most part we joke and hope not to get one as if you do then you will have to host a dinner party. This year at my sister & brother-in-law's the rosca had 8 babies!! On the first round we all got one and later my BIL got another and we split the leftover bread and while checking to see that there weren't any more babies they got two more and I got one more so at the end since they got 5 babies (my BIL got a total of 3) they will host the dinner party on Feb. 2nd
