Shoebox Thursday

This week's shoe-box was this cute card...same fold I used for the dress card here, I don't think that other than fun fold there was a name for it. Most supplies are SU. Dawn Griffith called it flap fold card

This the card closed

This is a closed up of the insert piece. I made a change on this from the original card...added the 3D butterfly

Inchies and more

In one of the yahoo groups we are having a mingle (most of you know it as swap) with the theme inchies or twinches. When this art came out it was only inchies if I recalled it right Karen Lockhart introduced it in this area. It means art in a perfect 1" square, either on cards or just for exchange just like ATC. You're supposed to do the base on a matboard  or anything sturdy but guess at the end as long as it's done in the perfect measurement while using it as part of a card it doesn't matter much how is done if you are doing it as exchange they do have to be sturdy.

As time went by, other pieces of art were created and depending on their size or shape the name was different I only know 4 sizes don't now if there are any more. The other sizes I know are Twinchies which is art on a perfect 2" square. Betwinchies which is art on a perfect 1-1/2" square and last is Rinchies, this is art done on a perfect 1" circle. Personally I had only done inchies but I decided to make a twinchie for my mingle.

Here are some samples I did with my inchies. I always used them on cards as I don't collect them just like I don't collect ATC. If someone sends me any not on a card I will put them along with the ATCs I have gotten over the years. Except for the lighthouse all others were with Lockhart Stamps and prismacolored pencils as I made them with Karen Lockhart. The lighthouse was done at a make & take at Friends and Company which is now closed for business. Karen used to come often for demos & classes.

I made this twinchie card using the spot technique. Seems like I don't use my house mouse stamp lately. Before it was either house mouse, Snoopy or Penny Black hedgehogs what I used. I colored with Copic Markers.

Hair gel

After watching Brandy's tutorial on this technique I decided to give it a try. Bret said it was cool how it really does look like water. The fishes are by Local King Rubber Stamps other stamps Stampin' Up

Shoebox Thursday

This week was my turn to do the shoe-box and since St Patrick's Day is coming up that is the theme I used. My foster family was big on this holiday. Joe & Nolene even dressed up like Irish. Even got to try green beer once. Anyway this is what I did.

Closed-up of the clover. I used 3 hearts for each leaf, and the stem is from the two-step bird punch

TeePee card

This week's Sunday technique was a TeePee card. The tutorial supplied to us was  by LeAnne http://www.weeinklings.blogspot.nl/search/label/Teepee%20Card

This is the over-top look

Front view...only side with image

This is a front flat view.

I guess where the closure is we'll call it the back. I was having a hard time with what to use for closure, I didn't want ribbon or velcro, tried strips of magnet but didn't keep it close and then I remember I had this metal turn mounts...wish I had the painted ones but guess as long as it does the work color doesn't matter too much :0)

I really like this fold card BUT unless is for someone that makes cards I don't think I would send to anyone as they wouldn't know how to put it together. As card-makers we know the little things we use on our cards and are able to figure out how a card goes but for someone else it's a 30/70 chance :0)

I also made this one with the same technique. All sides have the bird and leaves but the papers are different and also used the same closure

Get well

A lady in one of my yahoo groups is having hip replacement so this is the card I made for her.

I use Labels Fifteen by Spellbinders to make the base card and colored the digital image by Sliekestamps with Copic Markers

Closed-up of the main image...as you can tell one of her favorite colors is green.
