Shoebox Tuesday

This is a very clean and simple card inspired by Flower Shoppe Cards. When I saw her card at first I thought it was background paper/ DSP but when I went to her blog it was washi tape and of course loved the ideas as I have lots of washi tape and it was a great way to use some of it. Well I didn't have thick tape like hers so decided to change my card still did her concept just more tape and more lines :0)

Her card was one layer but personally I do not like one layer cards at all so I did it with a layer...white on white.

This would have been more of what the idea on the blog was

and this is what I did...separating the washi tape instead of putting it together. My message if from the set just a note by Mama Elephant stamped with tuxedo black

New SU catalog Kick-off

Yesterday I attended a SU workshop with two of the local demonstrators for the reveal of the new catalog that started on Thursday. We had 4 project using mostly new products.

This first card was using High tide and thoughts & prayers sets and seasonal layers thinlits dies, and one of the new paper packs. Inks dapper denim, crumb cake, always artichoke and soft suede, this last one with dauber just to add shadow on the beach chair and for the water/sky we used the foam brayer which actually was kind of cool, easy on the hand and didn't leave the marks where the brayer landed but left some texture that being sky and water was great.

For this second card, no stamping involved. We use all of the new in-colors and the happy birthday thinlits die as well as the new glitter enamel dots. White Baker's Twine, a quick and easy card.

For this third card, most of the things were done for us, well the squares were done for us which were cut from the stitched shapes thinlits dies, I did have to cut my medallion but that was pretty easy, you do have to clip it off as it doesn't get cut all the way out on purpose so you can use it a part of your card if you wanted. For my message I didn't like any from the available set, not that they weren't nice but the ones that fit the circle I didn't care for and the others were too small so I waited until I got home and used one of my sets which was party pants SAB set with tuxedo black, we also used basic black Baker's Twine. I mounted my black layer on foam as well as my medallion.

The fourth card I didn't finish at all. My OCD clicked on and I just couldn't do it so still working thinking on how can I do it :0) it was using at home framelits and at home with you set and Mediterranean moments set, will show the card when and if I ever finish it later.

Stamp & Scrapbook Expo

Today was the only show we would have in our area this year and it was in Puyallup WA. It was two days, yesterday and today but we only went today. Going two days is too expensive for the number of booths as you don't get any break on the entrance fee and today was the best day for the 3 of us that were going together. It was as small as last year, at least don't think it had any more booths than last year :0) according to the map there were 27.

There were a couple that I didn't recognize from the previous years. One of them was Stamp On It from Michigan where we spend a lot of time. They had images on acetate either black and white or colored to use on cards and a lot of peel-off stickers to decorate as well as to use as the main image. They also had stamps from Artful and QKR Stampede but we were told that on their website they had many more companies to buy from. Another company we always love and enjoy spending time is Rubbernecker as well as Local King which we spend a lot of time. Heartfelt Creations is another company we like but since we have not used their stamps and they continue not doing anything that is not 3D we decided we didn't need anything from there :0) Art Impressions was there is always fun going through their funny stamps, Krazy Kreations is a place we spend a lot of time we love their card kits even though they seem pricey but fun to make, Tessler Stamps was another place we like to check their demos although this year we didn't spend as much time as previous years, Its Cheaper than Therapy is another place we like to go, they carry Sizzix and Elizabeth Craft so always fun to see what they have, Eyelet Outlet we like their pearls, rhinestones, and brads although this year we only got jewels & Queen & Co. have lots of washi tape but this year we were good and didn't add to our big collection :0) Craft Fancy is a company that came back for the second time and they carry several companies this year their big promo was Gina K foils. The other companies that I didn't mention where totally scrapbooking or not something we were interested in or we just got adhesives of one kind or another like Allton Crafts and Scrap That!

It was fun being able to go to the show and see all the stuff not sure I saw anything "new" other than at Stamp On It, not sure it was a new thing the acetate but it was a quick and easy way of doing cool cards. Other than in there I didn't see any new technique or a new thing to learn.

We didn't make any make and takes or take any classes so here is a card from Frenchies class in the mail. The message is from Picture perfect & botanical for you SU sets stamped with blackberry bliss ink the rest of the stamping was done with timeless texture set with crumb cake and lost lagoon inks
